Copy as fast and as effectively with the advanced HST™ system found in Blue-Cloner 2. This app will finish the Blu-ray copy within four hours. Simply click on the start button and take a break, then you’ll get a perfect backup of your favorite Blu-ray movie!

Ease of Use: Excellent Blue Cloner 2′s interface is pretty easy to understand basically 3 options to choose from. First, copy 1:1 which will make a bit for bit copy of the original, extras included.  Second it a movie only copy, which is preferred since 50GB Blu Ray discs are very expensive, so it’s more practical to use a 25GB disc. Third is an option to copy to your hard drive for playback using a playback software such as WinDVD or PowerDVD.

Performance: Excellent The performance of Blue Cloner is very good.  With the 5 movies we tested, we have 5 successful copies. Although this process can take a few hours depending on the size of the movie and the speediness of your PC.

Video/Audio Quality: Excellent The bit for bit copy was perfect, we can’t tell a difference between the original and the copy.  The shrink option will depend on the running time of the movie. If over 2 hours then you will start to see a quality loss. However, the loss is not enough to get upset over unless you are a videophile.  The picture quality is still Blu Ray acceptable.  Watching the backup from the hard drive is excellent also. Just make sure you are using a quality Blu Ray player on your PC.

Tech Support: Very Good Support must be good for a software such as this since they are constantly playing catchup with all the new Blu Ray copy protections coming out with each release.  So updates are a must and these guys have stayed updated so far and they plan on supporting all movies going into the future.  Currently they only offer FAQ’s and Guides on their site. However these are in good detail and should help you through the rough spots if any should arise. As a last resort they have a support email address.

Summary: To recap, Blue Cloner 2 has our GOLD Award for 2012. If you have a need for backing up those Blu Ray discs then this is the one app to use.
